Welcome to your  Wedding Checklist

The easy way to stay organised during your wedding planning journey.


Sixteen to Nine Months Before

  • Start a wedding folder or binder.

  • Pick a wedding date and time.  

  • Work out your budget.

  • Pick your wedding party.

  • Start the guest list.

  • Hire a planner, if desired.

  • Reserve your date and venues.

  • Book your officiant.

  • Research photographers, bands, florists, and caterers.

  • Throw an engagement party, if you wish.

Eight Months Before

  • Hire the photographer and the videographer

  • Book the entertainment

  • Meet with wedding planner 

  • Meet with food stylist

  • Purchase a dress

  • Book your hotel for the wedding night

  • Register

  • You may like to launch a wedding website

  • Send out save the dates. This is a particularly good idea if you're marrying during a tourist or holiday season or having a destination wedding

Seven to Six Months Before

  • Select and purchase invitations

  • Start planning a honeymoon

  • Shop for bridesmaids' dresses

  • Meet with the celebrant

  • Send save-the-date cards

  • Book portable toilets for out door events

  • Book a florist

  • Arrange your transportation

  • Start composing a day of timeline

Five to Four Months Before

  • Check on the wedding invitations

  • Select and order your cake

  • Purchase wedding shoes and start your dress fittings

  • Schedule hair and makeup artists

  • Choose your music

  • Organise formal wear for the groom and groomsmen

Three Months Before

  • Finalise the menu

  • Finalise the flowers

  • Order your bonbonnieres

  • Make a list of people giving toasts

  • Finalise the readings for the ceremony

  • Hire a calligrapher, if you want your invitations to be professionally addressed

  • Purchase your undergarments

  • Finalise the order of the ceremony and the receptions. 

  • Purchase the rings

  • Send your event schedule to your vendors

Two Months Before

  • Touch base again with all the vendors

  • Meet with your photographer

  • Review the playlist with the band or deejay

  • Send out the invitations

  • Enjoy the Hens / Bucks night  - you may wish to book a photographer for the Hens Night - My Ultimate Hens

One Month Before

  • Enter RSVP's into your guest list database

  • Phone people who have not yet responded.

  • Get your marriage license

  • Visit the dressmaker for your last dress fitting

  • Send out as many final payments as your can

  • Confirm times for hair and makeup and all vendors

  • Email & Print directions for drivers of transport vehicles

  • Draw out table shapes and assign seating for the reception

  • Purchase bridal party gifts

  • Write vows, if necessary

  • Get your hair cut and coloured if desired

The Week of the Wedding

  • Reconfirm arrival times with vendors

  • Delegate small wedding day tasks

  • Send a timeline to the bridal party

  • Pick up your dress

  • Check in one last time with the photographer ( supply them with a list of moments you want captured)

  • Set aside cheques / money for the vendors

  • Book a manicure and pedicure

  • Send the final guest list to the venue

  • Break in your shoes

  • Pack for your honeymoon

2-3 Days Before

  • Bride & Bridesmaids: if you need to, have your gown pressed

  • Groom & Groomsmen: Go for final fitting & pick up your suits

  • Determine wedding party positions during the ceremony and the order of the party in the processional & recessional 

  • Give the place cards, bonbonnieres to the reception centre or your stylist

  • Call the limousine or car rental to confirm all details

  • Arrange for guests to be picked up from the airport or train stations. 

  • Put your mail on hold till after your honeymoon

The Day Before

  • Provide all wedding professionals with an emergency phone number to call on the day of the wedding if needed  

  • Rehearse the ceremony

  • Give the bridal party their gifts especially if the gifts are accessories to be worn during the wedding

  • Turn on your away message on your email

On your Wedding Day

  • Give wedding bands to the best man and maid of honour

  • Assign a family member  attendant to be the photographer's contact so he / she knows who's who 

  • Enjoy your day

After Your Wedding

  • Prearrange for someone to return any rentals

  • Prearrange for bridal party to take the bride's gown for cleaning and return any rental suits 

  • Write and send thank-you notes

  • Organise for your bridal bouquet to be preserved  (click here for more information) 

  • Return all rented equipment

  • Return all borrowed accessories

  • Contact your gift registry to have gifts delivered

  • Contact your photographer and videographer

  • Get an official copy of registered marriage certificate (click here for more information)

  • Change your name (click here for more information)

  • Change your address (If applicable)

  • Make a wedding memento box

  • Update your will

  • Update your beneficiay for life insurance / superannuation

  • Update emergency or next of kin details with your employer / doctor and other relevant organisations
